Women’s T20 International Cup: Australia make way for Heather Graham in the playground for injured Tayla Vlaeminck

Australia quick Tayla Vlaeminck will leave out the remains of the Women’s T20 International Cup closer to her injury during her previous group stage match, against Pakistan on Friday. Heather Graham replaced her within the team.

Healy was ruled out of Australia’s final group match against Bharat in Sharjah on Sunday and will continue to be assessed in the coming days. Tahlia McGrath was set to captain Australia against Bharat in Healy’s absence, with Ellyse Perry appearing as vice-captain.

Vlaeminck dislocated his fair bowling shoulder trying to block a boundary in the first over of the match in Dubai. Vlaeminck stepped back from the third cut to cut out a Muneeba Ali shot, but her knee got caught in the turf as she reached for the ball and she threw it back before falling over the rope, screaming and clinging to his shoulder as she did so.

She had come into the side of big hitter Grace Harris, adding it was in what Healy described as an “impact for impact” change in Australia’s first tournament fit on the field, having opened her campaign with wins against Sri Lanka and Zealand not used in a slower tone in Sharjah.

It was Vlaeminck’s first International Cup game since 2018 and the second in a career marked by serious injuries, including two ACL injuries, a double dislocation of his left shoulder and stiffness fractures at the base.

Healy and Vlaeminck underwent scans on their respective accidents on Saturday.

Graham, a right-arm seam bowler, has played five T20Is and one ODI with career-best figures of four for eight in the shorter structure during Bharat’s Australian tour in 2022.

With all life available to Bharat, Graham was no longer integrated into the playing XI.
