Defending champions Real Madrid and RCD Mallorca are gunning for a final place in the Spanish Super Cup when they meet at King Abdullah Sports Town in Jeddah on Thursday. Carlo Ancelotti’s men protect the Los Angeles League champions in the month the Balearic Islands earned their place in Saudi Arabia after finishing runners-up in the Copa del Rey. Los Blancos already won the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in Qatar last year and started 2025 with a small comeback in Valencia before advancing to this edition of the Copa del Rey through the Deportiva Minera relaxation week. Raúl has struggled in each of his three Spanish Super Cup semi-finals since 2021 after losing to his teammate from the last four Athletic Club teams.

Mallorca is in the Spanish Super Cup after having reached the last hour of the Copa del Rey, but will refuse to repeat after having fallen from the live edition against the minnows of Pontevedra. Athletic Club overcame the penalty shootout to fill their playing field in Saudi Arabia, denying Los Piratas what could have been heroic luck. Mallorca have played in the Spanish Super Cup twice before, beating Barcelona 3-1 in two games in 1998, as well as a 2003 loss to Real. They have lost three in their five competitive games, which is not just going into this one, but they drew at Son Moix earlier this season, which would be enough for at least an extra day and probably even consequences.

Below are our stories, how you can control the fit, and more:

The best way to control the odds

  • Week: Thursday January 9 | Day: 2 pm eastern time
  • Location: King Abdullah Sports City — Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
  • Oversee: ESPN Sports
  • Odd: Actual -275; Draw +380; Mallorca +600

This season so far

La Real fought again to beat Valencia despite being sick against ten men and then due to Vinicius Youth’s red card due to lost goals from Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham. Ancelotti’s men now lead the Los Angeles League with two points clear of Atletico Madrid and five points clear of third-placed Barca, even if Atleti have a game in hand. Although Mallorca is the lowest ranked team in this edition of the Spanish Super Cup, Jagoba Arrasate’s men are in sixth place in the Los Angeles League and are currently difficult for Europe. The Copa del Rey may be long behind us, but Athletic Club, in fourth place, are only six points ahead at the moment.

Group information

Current: Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao are out for the month David Alaba is not fully qualified to sign despite being in the good squad. Jesús Vallejo was omitted after missing the Copa del Rey victory over Minera with the surprise month. Vini Jr. is ready to be suspended in the Los Angeles League and then included in the Spanish Super Cup in this life. Kylian Mbappé needs to make his first appearance in the Spanish Super Cup with 13 competitive goals to his name so far.

Imaginable Current XI: Courtois Vázquez, Tchouameni, Rudiger, Mendy; Valverde, Camavinga; Rodrygo, Bellingham, Vinicius; Mbappé.

Majorca: Samu Costa has traveled despite his last month of shock. Antonio Raillo and Antonio Sánchez are also suffering blows. Arrasate must recover here its well-known starters Dominik Greif, Pablo Maffeo, Sergi Darder, Cyle Larin and Vedat Muriqi.

Imaginable Mallorca XI: Greif; Mafeo, Valjent, Copete, Mojica; Asano, Morlanes, Mascarell, Darder; Larin, Muriqi.

Prediction

This should be an easy win for Real, as Mallorca’s easiest prediction of a dissatisfied being passes the 90 minutes until the day of the law. Choose: Real 2, Mallorca 0.
