Melbourne Renegades 137 for 1 (Matthews 60*, Molineux 42*) beat Sydney Thunder 133 (Molineux 4-23) for nine wickets
Melbourne Renegades crushed the Sydney Thunder by nine wickets to take first place in the WBBL standings.
The Renegades moved to 14 points, snatching first place from the Thunder (13 points). The Brisbane Heat (12 points) will need a big win over the Sydney Sixers on Sunday in the final game of the regular season to leapfrog the Renegades and host the grand final.
The Perth Scorchers (nine points) sit in fourth place ahead of their final game on Saturday night against the fifth-placed Hobart Hurricanes, who will likely decide fourth place heading into the final, unless the Sixers (sixth, eight points) can defeat the Heat.
Openers Georgia Voll, Chamari Athapaththu and Georgia Adams made 11, as Thunder fell to 95 for 3 in the 12th over and lost their last seven wickets for 38 runs.
Molineux was excellent with his four-wicket haul accompanied by a dozen dot balls in his four overs.
