What to know
Having played yesterday, the Memphis Grizzlies will hit the road to take on the Golden State Warriors at 8:30 pm ET on Saturday at the Chase Center. Keep an eye on the score for this one – both posted high point totals in their previous games.
The Grizzlies head into Saturday’s contest after surpassing an impressive 242.5 over/under points from bettors set for their last game against the Kings. The Grizzlies fell to the Kings 138-133. Memphis’ season wasn’t pretty last year, but it’s starting to look like problems are in the rearview mirror.
The losing side was fueled by Jaylen Wells, who went 8-of-9 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points plus five rebounds. Additionally, he also recorded a three-point shooting accuracy of 88.9%, which is his highest since October 2024. Desmond Bane was another key player, adding 22 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, the Grizzlies worked as a unit and finished the game with 31 assists (ranked second in assists per game overall). That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they have now racked up at least 25 assists in 20 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, the Warriors on Thursday notched their biggest win since October 25, 2024. Everything went right against the 76ers as the Warriors cruised to a 139-105 victory. The game was almost over by the end of the third, by which time Golden State had established a 25-point lead.
Stephen Curry had a dynamite game for the Warriors, going 8-for-8 from long range and posting a double-double with 30 points and ten assists. Curry’s performance made up for a slower game against the Cavaliers on Monday.
Memphis’ loss dropped its record to 23-12. As for Golden State, they now have a winning record of 17-16.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: the Grizzlies have been breaking glass this season, having averaged 48.7 rebounds per game (they rank second in rebounds per game overall). It’s not like the Warriors (currently in third place) are struggling in that department, though, as they’ve been averaging 47.2. With both teams struggling to corral missed shots, we’ll see if one team can take advantage.
Everything was rosy for the Grizzlies against the Warriors in their previous matchup in December 2024, when the team earned a 144-93 victory. In that game, the Grizzlies built a 69-38 halftime lead, an impressive feat they will look to repeat on Saturday.
