Vikings acquire LT Cam Robinson in trade with Jaguars

The industry is waiting for Robinson to pass a body.

In addition to Robinson, the Vikings will receive a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick that can travel in response to playing, while the Jaguars will receive a conditional 2026 fifth-round pick that can become a fourth-rounder in response to playing. .

Robinson, 29, is in the final year of a contract that will pay him $16.25 million this season. The Jaguars are paying a portion of the remainder of Robinson’s salary, sources said.

Darrisaw suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee during the Vikings’ 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday. He signed a four-year word of honor extension in August and is expected to return to full fitness after the season.

That makes Robinson a likely temporary addition for the remainder of a season in which the Vikings are off to a shocking 5-2 start.

Veteran backup David Quessenberry replaced Darrisaw against the Rams, but Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell later said the team would consider some options for placement in the 10 total games.

An alternate option was believed to be moving left coverage Blake Brandel to left coverage, with veteran Dalton Risner replacing left coverage. Brandel End made the left take in 2022, and when asked about the opportunity on Monday, he said, “We’re still figuring everything out.”

Chatting with reporters Tuesday afternoon, offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said the Vikings could be guided by getting their top five offensive linemen in the farmlands.

Robinson started the Jaguars’ first seven games, but was benched for fourth-year player Walker Minute on Sunday against Green Bay. That was the first time in Robinson’s career that he was active during a game and no longer performed.

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said Monday he wasn’t sure if Minute would be the starter going forward.

Robinson, who has an 81.7% win rate, played in nine games in 2023, minus the first four times he was suspended for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. He missed four snaps of another game due to a knee injury.

That was the third straight season in which Robinson missed games due to the upset. He has played just one full season (2020) since the Jaguars drafted him 34th overall in 2017 and has missed 32 career games due to upsets, suspensions or benching.

It was not immediately clear whether Robinson would be able to play in games in the Vikings’ then-game Sunday night against the visiting Indianapolis Colts.

Darrisaw, 25, has been the creation of the Vikings since they made him the Wrong One. 23 selected in the 2021 draft. He has battled a series of injuries, but has performed strongly to benefit the unused word of honor, which is worth up to $113 million.

The upset came when Darrisaw was blocking 35 seconds apart in the first half Thursday. Rams defenseman Jaylen McCollough banged the side of his left knee and team scientists helped Darrisaw straight to the vault room as the Vikings completed the role.
