The extension is worth approximately $24.5 million, a source told ESPN.
Kamara appeared to confirm the earlier scoop overnight on his social media account when he reposted a reaction to the initial extension filing.
Kamara said in September that he was willing to play games during the season without new business. He entered this season without a guaranteed cash on his oath he signed in 2020. The five-year, $75 million oath extension Kamara signed that year through the end of the 2025 season, but was owed $22.4 million in minimum salary and had a salary cap figure of $29 million, which likely would have forced the Saints to adjust the pledge by hook or by crook.
It was the latest major pledge that the salary-cap-strapped Saints had not met this year, which is something Kamara said he took note of in the past during the offseason. He forgot about the general practice of the important minicamp due to his oath, but went through the training camp as usual.
“I’m not worried about that. I’m here to play. I’m going to play. I’m going to perform. I don’t have any illness. I don’t have any mystery injuries. I’m here, you know what I’m saying? I’m going to play, I’m going to perform, I’m going to play.” to be here with my teammates and coaches,” Kamara mentioned in September. “Outside of all that, I think the most important thing is that I love this city, right? I love the fans. I love these people. They support me. They’ve been supporting me for years, right?
“For me, in my head, it would be quite selfish not to progress in the market. I am cruel, I interact with so many people every time. Those people love me as if I were a country. I think the same approach and vice versa. It would not do me any favors myself if I didn’t show up here and fight for the people who supported me.
Kamara has 111 carries for 438 yards and 6 touchdowns this season. He also has 34 receptions for 252 yards and some other rating.
Kamara was once a 2017 third-round pick out of Tennessee and was once named Offensive Pace Rookie that season. Kamara, who has been to five Pro Bowls, recently denied trade rumors and said on X that he wants to end his career in Unused Orleans.
According to the NFL Network, $22 million of the new deals will be guaranteed and $18 million will be isolated toward the 2025 salary cap.
