Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou ‘didn’t like what the fans were saying’

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says he “didn’t like what they said” some Spurs fans after their defeat to Bournemouth but “you have to face it”.

Immediately after their 1-0 defeat at the Vitality Stadium, Postecoglou pointed to a group of Tottenham fans who were expressing their anger and marched across the pitch towards the away end to confront them.

A few words were exchanged before a waiter attempted to calm the situation by dismissing the 59-year-old Australian.

“They are disappointed and rightly so,” Postecoglou said in his post-match press conference. “They gave me some direct feedback, which I have taken into account.

“I didn’t like what was said because I’m a human being, but we have to face it.

“I’ve been here long enough to know that when things don’t go well you have to understand frustration and disappointment. And they’re rightly disappointed because we let a football game slip away. But that’s okay. I’m okay with everything. that.

“All I can say is I’m really disappointed and I’m determined to get it right and I’ll keep fighting until we get it.”

Tottenham’s defeat to Bournemouth leaves them tenth in the Premier League standings, one place below the Cherries.

It was Spurs’ sixth league defeat this season, and only five top-flight teams have lost more games than them.

“It all comes down to us, as a collective, being much more determined to control a football match and not let the opponent take control,” Postecoglou added.
