Josko Gvardiol, Manchester Town, defender, £6.1m – home in Southampton
Town have only one goal in eight games this season, which is baffling as you imagine they have saved 13 in 2023-24.
One is surely coming against Saints, who only have six goals so far.
Gvardiol scored a great goal late in life for Wolves and is probably the best possible scoring option in defense if you can pay for him.
Rico Lewis, Manchester Town, defender, £4.8m – home in Southampton
Doing everything he can for Town’s defense this year. Lewis has started seven of City’s eight games this year, so, in short, he feels like he is Pep Guardiola’s first-choice player.
However, Lewis’ underlying stats are solid. Against Wolves he had seven tackles at third overall and five touches on the field, the third most among defenders behind Gvardiol (6) and Leicester’s James Justin (7).
Nathan Collins, Brentford, defender, £4.5m – home in Ipswich
Like Southampton, Ipswich have also scored just six this season and Brentford will enjoy their first clean sheet of the season.
Collins has been involved in four goals this season, which is worthy of a £4.5m defender.
