Nintendo Life has launched an eShop alternative designed to give Switch players an improved browsing and purchasing experience.
‘Better eShop’ was designed by the Nintendo-focused website in response to a number of common frustrations with the Switch online store.
“The Nintendo Switch eShop launched with the console in 2017,” the Better eShop website reads. “Since then there have been minimal improvements to the eShop interface and the storefront has been flooded with thousands of new ‘games’, which could often be described as spam. It is now a chore to use with no signs of change, apart from the Switch 2.”
After asking their readers what improvements they would like to see made to the store, the most requested features were content filters, better visibility, user reviews, faster loading times, a shopping cart, and music.
“None of these seemed particularly difficult to us at Nintendo Life, so we decided to build a new, better e-store ourselves,” the site explained.
Better eShop, which was created in less than a week and already offers most of the aforementioned features, links to Nintendo’s official marketplace when users are ready to purchase a game.
“Data has been collected from various sources and is updated daily,” according to Nintendo Life. “It’s very possible that Nintendo will start blocking us from collecting data, but until then, we will continue to build and improve Better eShop.”
In the near future, Nintendo Life plans to add wishlist features, screenshots, user reviews, and more.
Nintendo will reportedly reveal its next gaming console, expected to be the Switch 2, later this week.
