Then Mattel’s detail in the design to get the Barbie treatment is View-Grasp, and we expect a horror movie.

Mattel wasn’t lying when it said many toy houses would be getting the movie treatment thanks to Barbie’s luck, as it was just announced that View-Masp is in development.

The peak audience of future moviegoers has actually become against the long gestation of the live-action Masters of the Universe movie on Amazon, Mattel has been quietly but relentlessly providing a lot of big-screen green lighting to IPs like Bob the Builder and Barney the Dinosaur. Apparently this is simply the end of the iceberg, as we are now seeing new initiatives as baffling as a View-Grasp movie.

By using Selection, we have realized that the film can be developed through Mattel films with Sony Pictures and Depart Artists. “View-Master has inspired generations to embark on limitless adventures, offering a treasure trove of storytelling possibilities for this film,” said Robbie Brenner, president of Mattel Motion Pictures. Even though the company describes the mission as “a four-quadrant family adventure,” which is often code word for “soulless trash,” we at VG247 are being discreet and expect at least one creepy kids’ movie.

View-Grasp was first introduced in 1939 and has gone through several iterations (latterly including AR and VR) over the years. Basically, the OG model and its classic upgrades consisted of an old slide viewer for viewing 3D images (stereo images) that had been installed on it. The first reels were intended for users of all ages, and the highest-flowing ones are aimed at children. But what if the film presented the device as a style window to any other world, a scariest plane of life? Sorry, that most likely sounds too creatively exciting.

“We are eager to bring the sense of exploration of this treasured toy to the big screen,” added Todd Lightless of Depart Artists. Yes, that’s top corporate communication because “this will be safe, folks.” Will he be rewarded simply because people loved the admittedly refreshing Barbie movie directed and co-written by a perfect filmmaker?
