After missing the NBA playoffs and the playing tournament with the largest payroll in the history of the League, the Phoenix Suns have fired Chief coach Mike Budenholzer, the team announced on Monday.
“Competing at the highest level remains our goal, and we fail to meet expectations this season. Our fans deserve better. Change is needed,” said the team in a statement.
For the third consecutive season, the owner of the Suns, Mat Ishbia, the CEO Josh Bartelstein and General Manager James Jones are changing the coaches. Phoenix finished 36-46.
Budenholzer had trouble connecting with the costumes this season, and team officials concluded that the list did not respond to the NBA 2021 championship coach, the sources said. Budenholzer’s inability to coexist with his players focused on the cornerstone of the franchise, Devin Booker, and lowered the list, those sources said.
The Suns will now celebrate a broad search for training, the sources said.
Budenholzer accepted the work of the Suns in a five -year contract and $ 50 million last season, hired by its winning pedigree and schemes on both sides of the court.
