On the eve of the NFL kicking off Week 14 action on Sunday, the league issued a series of fines stemming from Week 13. In total, the league issued 17 fines, including one on Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram .
Engram was fined $11,255 for unnecessary roughness when he committed a late hit in response to Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair’s controversial hit on quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Al-Shaair was suspended three games for the hit on Lawrence, while the quarterback landed on injured reserve. Now, Engram is being docked money for his part in escalating the situation.

Colts linebacker EJ Speed received the largest fine of the week, as the league fined him $22,511. That punishment stems from his helmet use on a hit on New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry in the first quarter of Indy’s Week 13 win in Foxborough. Speed was not penalized in the game for the hit.
Despite speculation that he might be punished by the league in some way for throwing the ball to Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was not fined. In fact, Stevenson was fined $19,697 for his actions on the bench that led to Williams’ draw.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens was fined twice by the league, both for unsportsmanlike conduct. One of the violations occurred when he used his finger as a weapon.
In total, Pickens’ fines totaled $20,462.
