The entire French cast of Legends of Apex of Multiplayer Shooter has refused to sign an agreement that would allow their voices to train the generative AI, risking their work in the process.
Pascale Chemin, The Voice of Wraith, shared a statement in social networks (translated into a researcher) that details the situation, and although Apex is not mentioned directly, the other voice actors of the game are labeled accordingly.
In the publication, Chemin explained how the cast received an annex to its agreement directly from the editor (presumably EA), which should be accepted before the work could continue. This generative training is worried.
“These terms were not acceptable,” Chemin wrote. “Now I was forced to give up the role in which I had been working for almost six years. In no way I could force the rest of the casting members to do the same, but one thing was safe: if we all refuse, maybe it could have an impact. Otherwise, it would have been in vain.”
The entire cast unanimously rejected the agreement. “We wrote a collective rejection letter that we send to the editor and we are waiting for an answer,” Chemin said. “If we are not united now, so that a clause that protects our voices can be officially added in our contracts, and not only for us here, but for each video game dubbing study, we will never get one and go to a disaster.”

Chemin described refusing to work as “meaningless” when there is so little available and many actors are fighting for money.
“But we were not simply asked to work,” he continued. “We are asked to give up our experience to train the generative AI that will replace us tomorrow. We are asked to accept what we fight specifically. We are asked to shoot ourselves in the foot. We are asked to support the AI.”
Eurogamer has contacted EA for an answer.
The use of generative is growing rapidly throughout the industry in all types of areas. EA in particular has more than one hundred AI projects to help development, with the Andrew Wilson CEO, affirming the AI last year is “the core of our business.”
An example of this that is shown was an upcoming center that will reach the Sims that will include the discovery with AI through the search -based search or the ability to create SIM based on a photo.
However, the use of generative in the voice of voice is specifically great concern for the interim community. It is the key reason why the union of US actors.
Chemin’s publication is an excellent example of this use of AI, which many actors believe that it is not properly protected.
Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect, Bayonetta 3) spoke with Eurogamer earlier this year to explain why the SAG-AFTRA strike is still ongoing.
“It is a big problem for all of us and the repercussions are huge,” he said. “So, for me, it makes sense that everyone needs to take their time. As the artists, and we saw this in the writers’ strike and the theatrical contract strike, we are only the Canary in the coal mine.
“The producers who really do the work with us, want to return to work and are open to have really productive conversations. I think that people in the room that represent a more large -scale corporate interest, their priority is the protection of profits in the future, which means leaving all open options. But what I am not sure that they understand that they leave those options open of leaves in large bopardias.”
