Remedy Entertainment has shared impressive milestones for the Alan Wake franchise during its recent Capital Markets Day presentation. The survival horror sequel, Alan Wake 2, has sold more than 1.8 million units since its release on October 27, 2023, becoming Remedy’s best-selling game to date. Additionally, the franchise as a whole has reached a major milestone, with more than 15 million players worldwide.

Alan Wake Remastered, which revitalized the original 2010 classic, also performed strongly, selling 1.7 million units through November 2024. The remaster introduced the Alan Wake experience to a new generation of gamers while preparing fans for the sequel.

Alan Wake 2 continues the story of its titular protagonist, who has been trapped in an alternate dimension for 13 years. The narrative unfolds as Alan attempts to escape by weaving a horror story that becomes intertwined with the investigation of FBI Special Agent Saga Anderson. The game debuted on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and received critical acclaim for its atmospheric storytelling, cutting-edge visuals, and engaging gameplay.

With a development and marketing budget of €70 million, Alan Wake 2 is not only one of Remedy’s most ambitious projects, but also one of Finland’s most expensive cultural products. Its strong sales and critical reception have solidified its place as one of the top games of 2023.

Remedy’s Capital Markets Day also provided updates on its other projects. Control fans can expect exciting new features:

  • Control Ultimate Edition will arrive on Mac devices on February 12, 2025.
  • A free update for the original Control is planned in early 2025, which will unlock previously released content for all players.
  • Remedy also revealed that Control 2 will transition into the action RPG genre, promising a fresh take on the series’ supernatural themes.

Remedy is currently working on Control 2 and just released an expansion for Alan Wake 2.
