The Alan Wake 2 Puddle Space DLC will be another full-on slice of horror, with new playable characters and enemy types.

For those hoping to return to the surreal, twisted world of Alan Wake 2, you’ll soon be able to do just that, thanks to the upcoming arrival of its Puddle Space DLC.

During tonight’s Xbox Spouse Preview tournament, developer Treatment shared a brief preview of the game’s subsequent DLC, which takes place in a confidential facility located on the shores of Cauldron Puddle.

In an accompanying blog post, the team gained more attributes about the expansion, which will put players in the shoes of FBC Agent Estevez, so Treatment screams a “true survival horror” experience for everyone. This can lead to enough general scares and dangers, and Treatment has compared the horror levels of this DLC to that of Alan Wake 2’s Valhalla Nursing House series.

All this horror will come with a new type of enemy called the Painted.

“For The Lake House we wanted to introduce a new and different type of enemy than those found in the main game,” explained Treatment’s Kyle Rowley. “It’s impressive to us that our enemies observe from themes present in and around the part of the game in which they are distinguishable, whether it be the aquatic-themed enemy, the ‘Diver’ located in the Valhalla Infirmary House, or the wolves possessed that may be present in and through Cauldron Puddle Jungle.

“With that in mind, the Painted have as their main theme one of the central elements within Lake House: painting! They can weave in and out of the supernatural paint on surfaces, hunting the player as they do so, and performing devastating melee attacks that deal significant amounts of damage.”
