Florham Park, NJ – The low season purge of the New York Jets has claimed Field Marshal Aaron Rodgers and his most prolific open receiver, Davante Adams, but a member of the old Green Bay Packers gang is staying.
Finishing months of speculation, the Allen Lazard open receiver agreed a significant salary cut to remain with the jets, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.
It was thought that Lazard was a Goner due to its base salary of $ 11 million (not endurance) by 2025, but the two parties restructured the contract after several weeks of discussions. Its new base salary is $ 2.25 million, and can earn an additional $ 250,000 with game list bonuses per game.
In return, the Jets guaranteed $ 1.75 million of their base payment and annulled the last year of their contract (2026), allowing Lazard to become a free agent after the season. The movement reduces the 2025 lazard limit charge from $ 13.2 million to $ 4.6 million. There is an additional charge of $ 4.4 million “dead” in 2026.
On the limit he first reported the new agreement.
At the beginning of March, Lazard received permission to seek a trade, but did not find that the policyholders. General Manager Darren Mougey said on March 30 at the annual NFL meeting that the two parties were in conversations on a revised agreement.
“Listen, every time you have a player of that magnitude, it is a very good blocker,” said coach Aaron Glenn last week. “YO [coached] Against him several times when he was in Green Bay, so I know what he brings to the table. “
Lazard and Garrett Wilson are the main trailers in the jets receiving body, which also includes newly signed veterans Josh Reynolds and Tyler Johnson. Lazard is the only remaining Green Bay bay link in New York.
For two years, the Jets went to all in Rodgers, a process that began in March 2023 with the firm of Lazard to the largest free agent contract for an open receiver that year: four years, $ 44 million. They also signed the open receiver Randall Cobb (now retired) and acquired Adams in October. The objective was to surround Rodgers with family faces, including the offensive coordinator now repaired Nathaniel Hachett.
During those two years, the jets were 12-22, which resulted in an organizational restart.
Lazard has suffered two rocky seasons in New York, compiling 60 trapped, 841 yards and seven touchdowns. He collapsed in 2023 and was banking at one time, then admitted that his approach was affected by the Achilles injury that ended the Rodgers season in week 1.
With a healthy rodgers in 2024, Lazard was revitalized and had a productive start, but lost five games due to sternum injury and lost its initial work against Adams. The season ended with 37 receptions for 530 yards and six touchdowns. He also had seven team drops.
In seven seasons, the first five with the Packers, Lazard has 229 receptions, 3,077 yards and 27 touchdowns.
