Henderson, Nev.-Los Raiders of Las Vegas and the new field marshal Geno Smith agreed an extension of two years and $ 75 million, a source to Adam Schefter of ESPN told.
The contract has incentives that could bring the total to $ 85.5 million and includes $ 66.5 million in guaranteed money, said the source.
Smith, 34, is now contractually tied to Las Vegas during the 2027 season. He had a year and $ 31 million in the $ 75 million contract he signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2023.
The Raiders exchanged a third round of 2025 to the Seahawks to acquire Smith last month.
Adding to Smith solved the need for the Raiders of a field marshal after the team had problems under Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell in 2024. The most important thing, the arrival of Smith allows them to immediately compete under the new coach Pete Carroll coach and general manager John Spytek.
In 2024, Smith broke the Seattle franchise record for air yards (4,320) and the completion rate (70.4%) while launching 21 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 17 openings. He led the Seahawks to a 10-7 record, but did not qualify for the playoffs.
It will become the fifth player from the 1970 AFL-NFL fusion to establish a franchise record for aerial yards and then start the following season with a new team, joining Jameis Winston, Jay Cutler, Ken Stabling and Bob Berry.
In the last three seasons, Smith has been one of the most precise pins in the League, occupying the fourth place among all field marshal in percentage of completion and first in percentage outside the goal, which means that it had the greatest amount of releases in the target, according to ESPN’s investigation. In that same period, the Raiders field marshals have occupied the 25th position as a percentage of completion and 23 in percentage outside the target.
Smith was a selection twice Pro Bowl under Carroll in Seattle, registering 8,641 air yards, 55 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in 37 games.
Carroll called Smith an “immediate solution” in the position during the annual NFL meeting this week. However, he did not rule out the possibility of writing a field marshal this month.
Smith is the fourth Quarterback in the history of the League to win multiple Pro Bowl selections under a chief coach and then join that coach in a different franchise. After the Seahawks moved from Smith, signed the former Campo Marshal of the Minnesota Vikings, Sam Darnold, to a three -year agreement and $ 100.5 million.
