Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced price increases for the PlayStation 5 base in Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, as of today.
In a blog post, the Vice President of Global Marketing of SIE, Isabelle Tomatis, said the decision occurred as a result of “a challenging economic environment.”
The price of the PS5 pro remains unchanged.
“With a backdrop of a challenging economic environment, which includes high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, SIE has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price of the PS5 console in selected markets,” Tomatis wrote.
Prices will also increase in the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, but these changes are not listed. Instead, the company recommends consumers in these areas to consult with local retailers or in direct.playstation.com.
In Europe and the United Kingdom, the PS5 digital edition is now sold at € 499.99/£ 429.99. There are no changes in the standard PS5 price with the disc unit in these regions.
In Australia and New Zealand, both editions of the console have experienced price increases.
The standard PS5 with the disc unit will cost Aud $ 829.95/NZD $ 949.95, while the PS5 digital edition is sold to Aud $ 749.95/NZD $ 859.95.
The individual PS5 disk drive has decreased in the price. In Europe and the United Kingdom, it will cost € 79.99/£ 69.99, while in Australia and New Zealand, it is sold to Aud $ 124.95/NZD $ 139.95.
