Saurashtra is still alive after a successful show
Baroda’s chase suffered early on as they were reduced to 29 for 3 in the powerplay. They managed to limit the damage to their net run rate by finishing with 188 for 8, thus remaining at the top of the table.
Karnataka eliminates Tamil Nadu
Given how close the table is, with all of Gujarat, Saurashtra and Baroda ahead, this was practically a knockout. The result meant Tamil Nadu will be eliminated from the group stage of a tournament they have dominated in the recent past (they won consecutively in 2020-21 and 2021-22).
Dhir and Ramandeep keep Punjab alive
Having scored 196 for 6, thanks in part to Anmolpreet Singh’s 60 and Ramandeep’s unbeaten 39 off 11 balls, Punjab managed to bowl out Hyderabad for 189, with Dhir claiming his first five points in T20. Tilak Varma, the Hyderabad captain, managed just a career-high 9.
This was a clear case of the scorecard not revealing how one-sided the game threatened to be when Hyderabad were 141 for 8 in 17 overs. Left-arm seamer Chama Milind then unleashed a barrage of sixes in his 22-ball 55 to bring the game closer before Arshdeep Singh hit the final blow to seal the victory.
Bharat and Bhui lead Andhra charge
Unbeaten for four consecutive games, Andhra has a good chance of achieving the knockout. But their task becomes more difficult from now on as they still have matches against Kerala and Mumbai, who are also in the knockout contention and just behind them in Group E.
