Only two weeks before its launch, Bethesda producer Jeff Gardiner, modified Skyrim because he did not trust AI players models.
Is Skyrim a perfect game? Absolutely not, but I think a place where it deserves some credit is that when it works, it really works. But it is completely possible that there is another universe in which the game did not obtain some last -minute adjustments that sound as if it had been much less fun to play. In a recent interview with PC Gamer, the senior producer of the game Jeff Gardiner shared that he modified Skyrim only two weeks before he left, all in the name of not trusting the data models that do not behave as real people do.

“I had this fight with the designers at that time. They wanted to do things through data and simulations,” Gardiner explained. “And I said: ‘But the player does things, how to go back and double taps.’ Then it was balanced.
The point that Gardiner was doing at that time is that people are rare and behave particularly, sometimes unpredictable, and in games they can often be quite defensive, while the AI model was only attacking. In turn, that could have led Skyrim to balance with combat -centered players, but Gardiner had seen a similar problem in oblivion.
“So you had this problem in oblivion with clannfear, where they would take you to these things called locks of stunning, which is the most frustrating for a player. But the AI, when it was stunned, would be doing something different that the player would be doing .
Even so, it clearly worked well enough as more than a decade later, Skyrim is still one of the most popular and beloved games. Hopefully the recent mention of Elder Scrolls 6 was an adequate life sign for at least we can start playing something new.
