Screen Queensland has awarded a $1.3 million investment to nine free studios.

The investment in Games Supply, which will cover the improvement of 12 games, will also help “40 additional positions” for developers operating in the area.

This investment supports projects “at all stages of growth” with up to $200K per round and an available lifetime limit of $300K.

The organization says this original round of grants will help games from Fuzzy Ghost, Saltpunk, BaristaGamer Productions, Sagestone, Sbug Games, Maxart, Stream-Surrounding, and Spitfire Interactive, as well as the total drop of five Lives Studio’s Comfort Caravan.

Three new additional tasks in Prideful Sloth, The Tea Category and Spunge Games have also added to the investment through the virtual games incentive.

“Display Queensland’s investment extends to all levels of the local sector and that is paying dividends, with renewed confidence in our situation studies and the games they are creating,” said Display Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney.

“We are proud to be taking a step forward in ambition and opportunity in an industry where Queenslanders can also be global leaders in launching unique, cutting-edge games.

“After doubling the level of investment for game grant rounds, we completed a 133 percent increase in the set of projects we currently support and these indie games are using highly professional, real ‘bricks and mortar’ technical work. “Feeney added.

Display Screen Queensland is a state-owned company that “invests in locally produced games, films and series and attracts international and interstate production and post-production.” Programs for the subsequent round of grants begin in December 2024.
