Scott Wiseman when training the male and female teams of Gibraltar

Wiseman began his career as a coach with Gibraltar elite development teams while playing for Lincoln Red Imps and came to train children under 19, as well as children under 16, under 16 and under 19 years old.

The majority of Wiseman’s coaches team with the Senior Female team, with whom he says he has a “good working relationship”, has joined him in his new role with the male senior team.

The preparations have been further simplified by the promising screens by women in their matches of the Opening Nations League against the Moldova and Feroe Islands last month.

Both games ended in a 1-0 defeat, but Wiseman saw many positive aspects.

“We exceed expectations massively,” he added.

“Yes, we lost both games, but the advances that women have made are fantastic.

“We leave that at so high, we have less work to do in our next [games]up to a point. We have managed to enclose a lot of that preparation. “

As for men, their reward for a second place in the League D of the League of Nations is a two -legged tiering with Latvia in March next year, whose winners will be promoted to the league C.

Wiseman, who was eligible to play for Gibraltar through his mother, says that the next World Cup classification campaign should be seen as a base and a “rebound table” for ties with Latvia.

“The expectation of the next 12 months has to lead to the play-offs of the League of Nations,” he said.

“We have chosen a very young team, one of the youngest squads that I have been part.

“We have never had a point in the Euro or World Cup qualification, so we could really use this campaign as a basis for younger children who come and get the international experience we are going to need.”

However, Wiseman is not sure if he will still be in charge of that play-off.

“I’m not sure,” he said when asked about his future.

“This is something we have not yet discussed. [Ribas’ resignation] I was very close to this international window, so we had to be very reactive.

“It was easy for the association. Beyond these games, we have not discussed it.”
