Saints quarterback Derek Carr may return against Panthers in half 9

Carr has missed two games with indirect pressure on his left side. Carr was injured in the Saints’ loss to the Kansas Town Chiefs in the 5th period and was diagnosed with indirect pressure on his left side. He has not returned due to the trauma and has been traded for two games thanks to rookie Spencer Rattler.

Allen mentioned that Carr will most likely begin a pitching development on Saturday.

“This is not a question of pain tolerance,” Allen said via a conference call Friday. “This is a functionality issue, in terms of just being able to rotate your upper body to throw and being functional to be able to do that. Obviously, there’s a level of pain that goes along with that, but it’s your ability to rotate your core, being able to throw the ball is a big part of what quarterbacks have to be able to do.”

Allen said Thursday night that tight end Taysom Hill, who has been out with rib trauma, is more likely to return day-to-day against the Los Angeles Chargers. Allen didn’t completely rule out Carr for the post-day game, but indicated the goal was to return to the day against the Panthers.

“I think we’re getting closer. Do I think he’ll be ready for the Chargers game? I’m not sure. I think that’s questionable,” Allen said. “I think it’s very likely that it will happen next week. But I think we have to follow the process and see how it goes over the next three or four days and that will probably give us a much clearer picture.” in terms of his availability for this weekend.”

Allen said many of the players have the weekend off and then play three games in 10 days. Injured players, including Carr, will still go through their rehab programs this weekend. He said the Saints’ cleats seemed constructive in getting some players off the Saints’ long list of traumas.

“It looks like there’s a chance that some guys that haven’t been available to us will be available next week. So hopefully we’ll continue to get some good news on that front,” Allen said.

Allen said cornerback Paulson Adebo’s season is over, but cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who left Thursday’s game with hamstring trauma, appears to be in good shape. Allen said offensive safety Nick Saldiveri spends week-to-week with shoulder trauma, but offensive safety Cesar Ruiz (knee) is expected to return later. Heart Erik McCoy, who is on IR after groin surgery, cannot return but is “doing well in his recovery” and may begin his rehab procedure soon.

“It’s not just the number of injuries, it’s the injuries and who they go to. They are key cogs in our operation. Our three offensive captains are injured and not playing right now. It’s hard to deal with that. But it is what it is,” Allen mentioned.
