“Everyone has different plans, for different places and all that,” Potgieter said. “We have an incredible bowling schedule: KG [Rabada]Trent [Boult]boshy [Corbin Bosch]with George spinners [Linde] and rash [Rashid]. They bowl most of the overs. So there was no need for him to bowl. “And yeah, the captain threw the ball to me tonight and I was really happy about it, and it turned out perfect.”
“I looked at that statistic this morning, too,” Potgieter said. “It’s only the first game of the tournament, but it’s good to start with the victory.”
Before Thursday, Potgieter had 34 wickets in 64 T20 games. But this was the first time he bowled for MICT in 12 matches in three SA20 seasons.
“I couldn’t ask for a better day for it,” he said. “It happened very quickly. I was at the top of my mark and I just said, ‘I’m going to try to get to the top of the stumps,’ and luckily for me, it worked out perfectly.”
