RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is coming to Switch early next month.
As Atari announced, the theme park simulator will arrive on December 5, joining the Switch version to its availability on mobile phones and PC.
The re-release combines the original RollerCoaster Tycoon with its sequel, providing an updated user interface and controls.
These two games are generally considered the best in the series, and even if they show their age, their simplicity is charming compared to more recent simulation games.
In fact, it’s a big moment for Atari right after the release of Frontier’s Planet Coaster 2, a game with much more modern improvements.
Atari is the sole publisher of the RollerCoaster Tycoon series, after acquiring the rights to the third Frontier game earlier this year. Atari boss Wade Rosen said at the time that this would bring “new opportunities for Atari” and “benefits for fans of the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise games.”
This Switch release of RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic (not the third game) is the only follow-up news so far, so it’s unclear what’s in store for the rest of the series.
Alternatively, Parkitect launched for PlayStation and Xbox consoles earlier this year, following its previous release on PC. It’s a classic take on the theme park simulation genre, similar to RollerCoaster Tycoon.
