Houston Rockets safety Jalen Green is entitled to a three-year, $106 million rookie commitment extension with the franchise, CAA’s Aaron Mintz, Andrew Morrison and Shakira Wardally told ESPN.
The offer includes a player option in the third season, giving Green the ability to increase his disposable income on the street, sources said.
Green is the first NBA player to successfully negotiate a 2-plus-1 rookie extension at a nine-figure price.
For Green, 22, the engagement is another trend-setting year. He pioneered the NBA’s G League Ignite as the first signing in 2020 and then went second overall to the Rockets in the 2021 draft.
The three-year deal provides Green with short-term financial flexibility and the ability to earn more than $240 million total over the next five years, more than the $224 million peak wave, thanks to his eligibility for an extension beginning in October. . 2026 and the power to decide in the week of the 25th.
