Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Yash Dhull reaches century closest to intermediate surgical treatment: ‘It’s a sure sign’

After his Ranji Trophy century for Delhi against Tamil Nadu on Sunday, batsman Yash Dhull expressed his gratitude for being back in action after core surgery in July. It used to be a “minor” factor, he said, but one that could have led to serious problems if not addressed.

Dhull held Delhi to an unbeaten 103 for 264 for 8 in reply to Tamil Nadu’s mammoth 674 for six declared at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This is Dhull’s first aggressive match since his surgical treatment.

“This was a very important innings for me because it’s after surgery,” Dhull said closer to the generation games. “I’ve seen a lot of things. When you come back to play on such a platform and start a new entry, it’s a good motivation and a positive sign.”

Speaking about the problem that forced surgical treatment, Dhull, who will turn 22 in November, mentioned: “I found out that he is a minor and since birth [congenital]. [But] I’m playing on the ground again, this is God’s work. I am blessed.

“They made me understand [of the issue] throughout an entire camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. That is present. One thing or the other happens.

“This was a congenital problem. Normally the surgery happens after birth. Mine was very late. We knew that was very important. Because after the age of 35, this would have been harmful. Being back in the field makes me very happy. “.

Dhull, who has captained the Republic of India Under-19 group so far, completed his sixth first-class century here, in his 25th first-class game. He scored 10 in his previous match, against Chhattisgarh, which was his first since February. He said he was just trying to get on with his batting as usual. “I haven’t made any changes. I’m concentrating on doing what I’ve always done and I believe in that.

“In my opinion, this used to be a very notable entry. I told myself that and visualized [what I would do]”.
