After facing months of legal and administrative difficulties, Xbox revealed last month that Microsoft and PlayStation had reached a legally binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation after Activision Blizzard was acquired.
Although little is understood about the terms of the contract and how long it will last, it removes one of the most significant roadblocks in Microsoft’s lengthy acquisition of the Call of Duty publisher.
Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard was given approval by the European Commission in May, and last month Microsoft prevailed in a legal dispute with the Federal Trade Commission, an antitrust watchdog, clearing the way for the transaction to close.
