PlayStation Stops Sending Confusing ‘Thank You for Your Purchase’ Emails for PS Plus Games.

PlayStation Plus subscribers have been receiving confusing emails that read “Thank you for your purchase” every time they claimed one of their monthly free games. The automated emails often led to players thinking they accidentally bought something when they were only claiming their free monthly games. However, it appears that Sony may have finally stopped sending these automated purchase confirmation emails for PS Plus games, as multiple Reddit threads suggest spotted PSLS.

Players frequently become confused and frightened by the wording of the purchase confirmation emails because it implies that they have actually paid for the game rather than simply claiming it as a perk of their subscription. Some players receive the notification later in the day or week because they don’t always check their emails, forget they claimed their PS Plus games, and worry that their account has been hacked or is purchasing games they don’t want.

Numerous Reddit threads from players have begun to surface, as noticed by PlayStation LifeStyle, indicating that the practice may have finally come to an end. According to one thread, “So each month after I downloaded and added the monthly Essential games to my library, I checked my email afterwards and received a ‘Thank you for your purchase’ email for each of those games. However, this month after claiming Sackboy and the other two, I didn’t receive any email like that.”

According to a different thread, “I get dozens and dozens of these emails for every single free DLC I download, but I haven’t gotten any for the most recent games (this month’s Essential).” Nothing happened when I tried to download a game from PS Plus Extra. Is it typical? Perhaps Sony is no longer sending mail? Numerous comments from players claiming to have missed the email were posted on both threads.

Perhaps PlayStation has stopped sending freebie receipts to players via spam

“Thank you for your purchase” receipts that Sony emails out for each piece of content claimed are all too familiar to people who frequently claim free games from PS Plus or freebies from the PS Store. Though it never really made sense, it appears that the practice may have ended… at least in part.

Players Surprised by No PS Store Receipts for March 2023’s PS Plus Essential Line-up

Players who regularly claim free games from PS Plus or freebies from the PS Store were surprised by the lack of emails they received when claiming March 2023’s PS Plus Essential line-up. Multiple Reddit threads have cropped up, with players both relieved and worried about the lack of email receipts. On one hand, relieved players were tired of receiving 40+ emails just for claiming Sackboy: A Big Adventure’s free DLC. On the other hand, some players are concerned that they will now have no proof of having redeemed free content should Sony ever pull it in future.

Is Sony No Longer Generating Receipts for Free PS Store Content?

It’s unclear whether Sony has stopped generating receipts for free PS Store content altogether, or if it was only a glitch impacting the current PS Plus Essential line-up. However, players can hope that the confusion caused by the automated purchase confirmation emails will be a thing of the past.
