Nintendo Switch 2 will launch for $450 on June 5

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5, the console manufacturer revealed today in its direct live broadcast. The price of the Switch 2 base unit was confirmed as $ 450 (or £ 396 in the United Kingdom), with the orders early on April 9.

Together with the improved graphics and audio, the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a set of new online and hardware features, such as Improved Joy-Con 2 controllers that support a mouse interface. Magnetically maintained on the hand computer, once separated, the two Joy-Con 2s can be placed sideways and used to aim the screen similar to the mouse.

Nintendo also revealed Gamechat for Switch 2, an online social characteristic that allows screen capture chat and live for up to 12 players. The GameChat interface is raised using the new C button in the Joy-Con 2 controllers, and the built-in microphone of the console means that it does not require that a headset be used.

A recently revealed Nintendo Switch 2 camera is also compatible with Gamechat, and arrives on June 5 together with the system. Some games can use the player’s camera as a characteristic. The use of Gamechat will eventually require an online Nintendo Switch subscription, but will be free from the launch until April 2026.

Despite being equally thick as the original switch, the Switch 2 presents a larger LCD screen of 7.9 inches, admitting up to 1080p 120 fps in portable mode. When coupled, the Switch 2 can also reach the resolution of up to 4K, with the built -in fan of the dock keeping the fresh system.

There is also an additional USB-C port at the top of the Nintendo Switch 2, in addition to the existing system, which can be used with the camera peripheral. Like the switch, Switch 2 admits physical game cards. A new virtual game card system will also allow players to provide or ask for compatible games.

The company showed a new Switch 2 software such as the Mario Kart World launch game, which presents a larger and larger configuration for the Nintendo racing series. Another title that arrives on June 5 is Digital game Nintendo Switch 2 Welcomo Tour, which allows players to explore a 3D map of Switch 2 and learn more about their functionality, including mini -games that demonstrate how different features such as mouse controls work.

Other notable games 2 exclusive games will be launched after launch, such as the 3D platform game of July 17, Kong Baniza, the 2026 software multiplayer game, the Duskbloods and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Prisons, which will reach the end of 2025.

Nintendo also sheds light on how compatibility will work with previous versions with the original switching games. Although the existing digital and physical switching games library is compatible with the system, certain titles will have update packages paid for additional functions.

These include Super Mario Party Jamboree, Kirby and The Forgotten Land and The Legend of Zelda Titles Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild. These updates include improved images and new game additions or quality of life. The independent versions of the existing switch games that are packaged in these updates will be called Nintendo Switch 2 editions.

Certain titles, also, as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: ZA, will be launched both in Nintendo Switch and on Switch 2. On Switch 2, Metroid Prime 4 includes an option of quality and performance modes for the game, which suggests that Nintendo will use similar graphics options for those on consoles of the PS5 and Xbox series for certain titles.

Gamecube games will also be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Subscription Service level, exclusively for Switch 2.

The support of third parties also stood out during the live broadcast, with games such as Elden Ring, Hades 2, Street Fighter 6, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, Civilization VII, Split Fiction, Project 007, Borderlands 4 and Hitman World of Assassinate: Signature editing among the many games that reach the system.

Some third -party switch games will also offer paid updates for Switch 2, with civilization VII among them at launch.

The console will be launched as an independent unit and as a package with a digital version of Mario Kart World. The official Nintendo US website cites an MSRP of $ 79.99 for the new Mario Kart entrance, which suggests a price increase for first -part titles.

We will keep it informed since Nintendo reveals more in Switch 2 in the period prior to June 5.
