Miami – Nikola Jovic will miss at least the next four weeks with a broken bone in his right hand, Miami Heat announced Tuesday.
Jovic broke the second metacarpio in his hand during Sunday’s game in Milwaukee and diagnosed him the fracture in the half -time. He did not play Monday in Atlanta and was evaluated by Heat’s hand surgery, Elizabeth Ann Ouellette, and the Harlan Selesnick team doctor on Tuesday, after which the four -week schedule was determined.
Jovic will use a splint until he is reassess, the team said.
“I feel for Niko,” said Heat’s coach Erik Spoelstra, when the injury occurred. “I know how much has been put on this.”
The Heat, who pursues a guaranteed place of playoffs at the Eastern Conference, receives Atlanta on Wednesday.
The four -week schedule suggests that Jovic, who averages 10.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game this season, will lose at least 15 more games, with the earliest return possible on March 25 when the former Miami eaves of Miami Jimmy Butler and the Golden State Warriors.
The Heat is 11-5 this season when Jovic scores at least 14 points. Miami entered the ninth Tuesday in the East, five games behind Detroit in the race for the sixth and the last guaranteed place of playoffs.
