NCSoft has laid off an unknown group of workers following a “broader internal reorganization.”

The South Korean developer announced that “certain development projects and supporting functions will be reduced or closed” due to its “focus and prioritization strategy for efficient resource allocation.”

“This process will involve the reassignment of internal members and the implementation of a voluntary retirement program,” he added.

Co-CEOs Taek-Jin Kim and Byung-Moo Terrain said NCSoft is “at risk of falling into a chronically deficit company” following a “deteriorated” second quarter of the month, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported (via of Sports Developer).

Kim and Terrain mentioned that “large-scale change” was needed “for the survival and future of the company” and that it “promises[s] active support and compensation to those affected.”

As part of its restructuring efforts, NCSoft has created four intact wholly owned subsidiaries, which will be established on February 1, 2025.

These come with 3 free sports construction studios and an “AI-focused entity.”

Studio X will continue the advancement of the Throne and Self-Government. Studio Y and Studio Z will be keeping an eye on the trailer for Challenge LLL and Tactan, respectively.

NCSoft’s AI analysis category, NC Analysis, can be derived to NC AI mode. He will “specialize in advancing NCSoft’s proprietary artificial intelligence technologies, including Varco LLM, and apply these innovations to game development, as well as explore new business opportunities.”
