NBA Rumors: Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga already appears to have a suitor after not signing extension

0

Before opening night, the Warriors of the Yellow Order Yes to three-year, $39 million extension with Moses Moodythe disagreement. 14 selections in total within the 2021 NBA Draft. The same cannot be said for Jonathan Kuminga, the Disagree. 7 select in that magnificence. Because he did not sign an extension before the Oct. 21 deadline, Kuminga will now be a limited sovereign agent later in the season.

Kuminga has had an interesting start to his career, and what happens to him in the future is just as interesting. Will he end up re-signing with the Warriors at the end of the summer? Like Jake Fischer, the Warriors will likely be “happy to pay” Kuminga “top dollar” if he can show more consistency.

If he can’t, will all other groups be available to him, whether through the industry this season or in sovereign company? He has suitors, according to Fischer, who said both Brooklyn Nets have shown initial passion.

“The Nets are going to be a workhorse for everyone,” Fischer said. “There have already been rumors that Brooklyn might be willing to make a big offer to Jonathan Kuminga.”

The Nets, looking like one of the worst teams in the league this season, are in desperate need of young talent. They will have plenty of top size in late summer and won’t get sick if you give Kuminga a big chance to catch them and move up the east coast.

Kuminga, still only 22 years old, won a championship with the Warriors in his rookie season and played some important minutes early in that playoff run. Since then, he’s had some very notable moments and stretches, but he’s also lost the deal of Warriors maestro Steve Kerr from time to time. Due to his important three-point shooting, he is also not an admirable partner alongside Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney in the Warriors’ frontcourt.

“I think JK, if you look at his three years here, I think it would be like the stock market for 10 years,” Kerr said before the season. “Sure there have been some dips, times where I sat him, didn’t put him in play and took him out of the rotation. But since he came in three years ago until now, he’s dramatically better. And that’s how it is. It’s supposed to be Success and improvement are never linear at this level, especially for someone with so little experience.

“He’s still so young that if this had been twenty years ago, 30 years ago, he would have just completed his fourth year of college or his rookie year in the NBA,” Kerr continued. “While you add all those things, I love where JK is currently because he’s improved a lot, but he still has room to expand, which is the exciting segment. So I talked to him about this year and what the expectations are, I’m interested, “He’s interested, he loves it here, he’s told me that.”

Kuminga averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game on 52.9% shooting in 74 games last season, 46 of which were starts. It’s off to an irritating start to this marketing campaign, and then again. Even though he has been a starter in the first two games… everyone wins – He has only played 37 minutes in total and has as many surrenders (4) as photographs. The Warriors will want to see more than that, just like any other team, before doing a cash deal with him.
