The Baltimore Ravens are still waiting for the NFL to come out with their findings in the investigation that surrounds the kicking Justin Tucker. The veteran catcher has been accused of participating in inappropriate sexual behavior by 16 massage therapists in eight different Baltimore area spas.
On Sunday, the president of the Ravens, Sashi Brown, spoke with the journalists at the annual league meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, and headed where things are between the organization and Tucker. Brown reiterated that they are allowing the League to carry out their investigation and that the team has received updates from that research.
“One of the best things about the fact that the NFL has adopted this is that it gives more independence to the team and, therefore, we try to respect and remain with an arm to duration,” Brown said, through ESPN.
At the end of February, CBS Sports Nfl Jonathan Jones reported that the League has spoken with several of the accusers, who were made available by their lawyer.
“I think we want to make sure we have a great understanding of the facts, that we listen to both sides of the situation and that we allow the research to end properly and make decisions based on complete information,” Brown added.
Brown emphasized that the team will not make any decision simply based on accusations and wait until the League comes out with its findings before determining what to do with Tucker.
“The notion is that we have a zero tolerance policy in which we are going to make decisions simply based on accusations before we fully understand the facts, before allowing investigations to continue,” Brown said, through athletics. “We will never have that policy … it would not be fair for our players, it would not be fair for any citizen. It really goes against the base of any modern justice system.”
The initial wave of accusers appeared on January 30 with six women accusing Tucker of inappropriate behavior. Since then, 10 more have presented accusations of inappropriate behavior that cover between 2012 and 16 in eight different spas. For its part, Tucker has responded to these statements, saying that they are “unequivocally false” and “desperate sensational fodder.”
