Cobb, 34, played 448 professional games in a career that began in Leinteshire in 2007 and has seen it represent two other Midlands counties in Northambtnshire and Worcestershire. He was also a winner of the Bangladesh Premier League with Dhaka Gladiators in 2013, and has captured the Fire Welsh in The Hundred.
Cobb spent two weeks working with Australia players as a consulting coach during his ODI series in England last September, an opportunity that was the result of his relationship with Andrew McDonald, his former teammate of Leinsestershire. He is following his father Russell, who directs the UCCE configuration at the University of Loughborough, to Coaching.
“Since its debut 18 years ago, it has been a completely pleasant trip with many ups and downs,” Cobb said in a statement on Tuesday. “I am immensely grateful for the people I have met, the places traveled and the memories created over the years. Crick has given me a lot. Write down my first hundred in the 18 years of Lord and win the T20 Blast ends twice are just some of the memories that I will appreciate.”
