The Fresh York Jets have had an eventful two weeks headlined by a highly successful coaching and industry industry.
And something else is also wrong at MetLife Stadium, according to the Jets’ most famous fan.
Ed Anzalone, known more often as “Fireman Ed,” said Tuesday night on social media that the Jets have been restricting his display during the week on MetLife Stadium’s video boards during home games.
“I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but they’re phasing us out,” Anzalone said in a video posted to his Instagram account. “I would like to know if anyone knows anything, please let me know, because it is clearly happening and it needs to stop because we need the home field advantage.”
A staple for decades in Jets video games, Anzalone is best known for his trademark firefighter helmet and his role in fueling the fans’ well-known “JETS” chant. He said he saw the lack of screen during the week during the Jets’ Class 4 loss to the Denver Broncos and Monday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.
“Last night in particular, but also in the Denver game, last night in particular, we scored a touchdown and usually, as a tradition, they always put us on the screen,” Anzalone said, referring to himself and two alternative Jets superfans. . “(We) sang the Jet chant to get the crowd going, which is a staple at JetLife Stadium.”
Anzalone noted that historically he also incites the family when the Jets are on defense, which he added was “the most important thing,” before saying that “something was going on” with the group’s production team that oversees the video forums.
“Something’s going on, so let me know if you know anything,” Anzalone said.
The Jets fell to 2-4 on Monday in their first game under Jeff Ulbrich, who was promoted to head coach in the meantime, coming within an hour of Robert Saleh being fired.
Less than 24 hours after the loss to the Expenses, however, the Jets gained Davante Adams in a duel with the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting the famed wide receiver with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The Jets play their two closest games on the road before returning to MetLife for a Thursday night game against the Houston Texans on October 31.
