The MLS host team for the Club World Cup is reportedly ready. Without leaving the Fan Reserve, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami was selected as an MLS representative according to ESPN, along with the Seattle Sounders who qualified to win the Concacaf Champions Cup in 2022.

The expanded version of the 2025 tournament will be held in the US with 32 teams from around the world competing for the title. Concacaf has four spots in the tournament and they go to the winners of the Concacaf Champions Cup over the past four seasons. Miami will qualify using the host spot instead of the reigning MLS champions and Concacaf Champions Cup runners-up, the Columbus Group. This could occasionally give Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba other chances to take on Real Madrid alongside one of the best clubs in the world.

According to the rule, the general player was selected through FIFA and not the primary football league, but the league can only give tips. With Miami’s Sun-baked Rock Stadium being one of the biggest venues for the match, Messi will likely be able to play matches in Inter Miami’s backyard as well.

The game will be played at the park from June 15 to July 13, 2025 and the alternative venues are MetLife Stadium, Audi Grassland, Lincoln Monetary Grassland, Tenting Global Stadium, Geodis Terrain, TQL Stadium, Lumen Grassland, Rose Bowl Stadium, Mercedes Benz Stadium, Vault of United States Stadium and Inter&Co Stadium.

12 UEFA teams will participate across six teams from CONMEBOL, four teams from AFC, Concacaf and CAF and one team from OFC.
