Infinity Nikki developer Papergames has kicked off the new year by reporting on a series of improvements and optimizations it’s working on for the free-to-play, costume-themed gacha hit.
According to a post just shared on Infinity Nikki’s website, Papergames’ plans for the open-world action adventure were formulated after collecting “millions of suggestions” from players. An important part of them fall into the group of “optimizations”, starting with improving the game‘s performance on mobile devices, which the developer says it recognizes as an “important challenge that must be addressed.”
Ultimately, he hopes to not only improve the frame rate but also introduce a 60fps mode on mobile devices, but says these efforts to “push the performance limits of current mobile devices while using Unreal Engine 5… will require continuous, long-term optimization.” process.”
“Graphics optimization is one of our top priorities,” he adds. “Efforts are being made to improve graphics quality, address lag, and optimize power consumption across all devices.”
More extensive optimization work is also promised, with Papergames highlighting improvements to Infinity Nikki’s Purification aiming system, including adjusting collision sensitivity, to make it easier to hit enemies at close range and with different ranges. height.
Elsewhere, there is talk of precise tracking improvements for the game‘s minimap, so that items tracked using the feature will be easier to locate. Papergames is also working on an overhaul of the Infinity Nikki prologue that will address overlong processes and unclear tutorials that it believes prevent players from interacting with the world. “We don’t want the ‘first meeting’ to be filled with memories of loss, confusion, frustration and failure,” he says.
Additionally, PC key binding customization is in the works, as well as automatic high score recommendations for outfits and improved controls for Whimcycle on mobile devices. These will take the form of two new control schemes – a combination of joystick and buttons, as well as a single joystick mode – and players will be able to select their preferred settings from the options menu. Continuing with Whimcycle, Papergames has confirmed that it is releasing an update so that the bikes, which will soon be available for use in areas beyond Breezy Meadow, will no longer disappear from beneath riders whenever they connect with water and, instead, they will respawn players in driving mode. Eurogamer’s Lottie Lynn is particularly delighted about it.
And finally, all material update times will be set at 4 am every day. I’m reliably informed that this should help make acquiring items like Silvergale’s Aria outfit “a little easier.”
As for new features a little further down the line, Papergames says a vertical photo mode will arrive in “future releases,” as will Esseling’s follow-up, plus group photos and interactive poses with Momo. “We are committed to delivering more significant improvements,” the study concludes. “Let’s light up the new year together with Infinity Nikki!”
Eurogamer’s Jessica Orr had good things to say about Infinity Nikki in her four-star review last year, calling it “a real step forward for open-world gacha games” that “finally brings some much-needed competition to the miHoYo monopoly.” “.
