How to Get the Gravity Suit in Metroid Prime Remastered

0

Nintendo’s Metroid Prime Remastered, released physically for the Nintendo Switch on February 22, 2023, brings back the iconic bounty hunter Samus Aran in a fresh coat of paint. As players navigate the winding planet Tallon IV, they’ll come across valuable upgrades to Samus’s suit that will help them progress through the game. One of the most important upgrades is the Gravity Suit, which allows Samus to explore underwater areas uninhibited. In this guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know to obtain the Gravity Suit in Metroid Prime Remastered.

Requirements before obtaining the Gravity Suit

Before you can acquire the Gravity Suit, you must ensure that you’ve cleared most of the snow-covered Phendrana Drifts, including defeating its mini-boss Sheegoth and the true boss Thardus. You’ll also need to have acquired the Wave Beam, Super Missile, Thermal Visor, Spider Ball, and Ice Beam, as the Gravity Suit is the next chronological upgrade.

Finding the Gravity Suit

Now that you have all the required upgrades, it’s time to head back to Phendrana Drifts. From the stony Chozo Ruins antechamber where you obtained the Ice Beam, head left through the doors until you can scan and enter the Tallon Overworld South elevator. Alternatively, if you’d like, you can obtain an energy tank and artifact by solving a Morph Ball puzzle in the Hall of Elders and scanning four runic symbols in the Suntower to receive the Artifact of Wild.

Whether you’re navigating from the Tallon Overworld or taking the Magmoor Caverns North elevator near the Sunchamber, your next goal is to reach the Caverns’ Monitor Station. Cross the bridge when you’re there to reach the Phendrana Drifts North elevator. Use it to reach the Phendrana Shorelines and save your game. From here, you have two options.

  • Option 1: Use your Ice Beam to open the frosty door in Research Lab Hydra, then go through the Pike Access hallway to reach Frozen Pike. From there, make your way to the purple door and use your Wave Beam to open it. This will lead to Frost Cave Access, which leads to Frost Cave and another save point. Follow the Upper Edge Tunnel to Phendrana’s Edge, and enter the water. Pass through doors until you’re in the Gravity Chamber, where the Gravity Suit marked by the S-shaped Metroid symbol is spinning like a coin on the far left side of the chamber.
  • Option 2: Return to Thardus’ boss room in Quarantine Cave, ignore the Magmoor elevator near it, and complete a Spider Ball maze to get to Frozen Pike. Once there, follow the same steps as option 1 to reach the Gravity Chamber.

After obtaining the Gravity Suit

Equipping the Gravity Suit will allow you to move and see more easily underwater. With it, you’ll be able to reach the Wave Beam door that leads back to Hunter Cave, Frozen Pike, and ultimately the Magmoor Caverns South elevator. Push your way back to the Landing Site in the Tallon Overworld, then go to the Frigate Crash Site and start swimming. There’s an underwater area you can now easily explore.

Obtaining the Gravity Suit in Metroid Prime Remastered may seem challenging at first, but with the right upgrades and navigation, it’s a rewarding experience. Don’t be discouraged if you’re struggling to find it; just follow this guide and you’ll be one step closer to completing Samus.
