Homeworld 3’s latest major update launches this week, following the developer’s decision to unify remaining plans

Developer Blackbird Interactive has detailed its upcoming final update for Homeworld 3.

This big update, which the team describes as “mothership-sized” with a “giant amount” of improvements and such, will be released on November 21.

It will include an overhaul of combat, while Blackbird has also completely redone how damage and armor work within the game. Additionally, on the multiplayer side, the team has significantly increased the difficulty of standard and hard AI opponents in Skirmish. This was done following community feedback.

This update will be the culmination of the revised Homeworld 3 roadmap, which was announced back in September, as a “unifying delivery” of all remaining paid DLC and free content.

“To be clear, this means that while we won’t be expanding Homeworld 3 with more content, we still want to ensure a positive experience for players,” the team wrote today.

“[Publisher] Gearbox will carefully monitor incoming reports and address any widespread critical issues that may arise following the release of Update 1.3. “Homeworld 3’s multiplayer functionality and mod support (including the game‘s mod browser) will remain online.”

Upon release, Will Judd of Digital Foundry gave Homeworld 3 three out of five stars.

“25 years after the original Homeworld and 22 years after the second (weaker) main installment, Homeworld 3 falls short of that high bar to eclipse its predecessors and become the new best Homeworld,” he wrote in his Homeworld 3 review. from Eurogamer from July.
