Pittsburgh-A week after the comments apparently less than enthusiastic about the perspective of the field marshal Aaron Rodgers who comes to Pittsburgh, the defensive captain of the Steelers, Cameron Heyward, clarified his position in the four times MVP.
“He was misunderstood,” Heyward said in the “Good morning football” of NFL Network on Wednesday morning. “They asked me a question: ‘Irpistas throughout going to a retreat of darkness to recruit Aaron Rodgers’? I said:’ I’m not doing that. That’s all that I didn’t like Aaron Rodgers or I’m against.
“When I look at our team at this time, it would be really great to have a guy like Aaron Rodgers. But I can’t be the guy who gets it on the finish line. He has to make those decisions for himself. I am excited to see what happens.”
In his podcast, “not only football,” Heyward had answered with a question of Hayden Walsh Coanfrerion about joining Rodgers in a retreat of darkness to recruit him.
“I’m not doing that retreat of darkness,” Heyward said on March 18. “I don’t need anything about that garbage. Or want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or not.
The tone seemed to be a change of Heyward’s efforts to land Russell Wilson before the 2024 season when the defensive liner spent more than an hour in Facetime with Wilson to recruit Pittsburgh. Although Heyward said Wednesday that it would be “great” that Rodgers joined the Steelers, acknowledged that he has not had a conversation with the 41 -year -old field marshal. The two did not talk when Rodgers visited the Steelers facilities on Friday.
“I haven’t had any communication with him,” Heyward said. “I was with some strength coaches that day I was in the building. I think they were trying to get everyone out of the building so they could talk with him.
“What would say: ‘If you come to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the goal is We leave there.
Steelers have been waiting for a Rodgers decision for more than two weeks, but the field marshal does not seem to be in a hurry to make one even when their possible landing points decrease. Wilson, who spent last year with the Steelers, agreed to a one -year contract with the New York giants on Tuesday night. Rodgers had an offer from the giants, but Wilson’s agreement closed the door of that possibility.
Even so, Rodgers is operating in his own timeline. Heyward refused to give a specific deadline for when he would like to know Rodgers’ decision, but said Wednesday that he “expects” to be “earlier, in the afternoon.”
“I feel that I am not [coach] Mike t [Tomlin] either [general manager] Omar Khan, “Heyward said.” That is a decision to make. When you look at that decision, you would like the draft to do it. But if not, I hope it will be done before the season, that’s all that matters to me. We can have many things at stake. You want to meet your team, open receivers, bring DK Metcalf, George Pickens, Pat Freiermuth, Connor Heyward, Jaylen Warren, all these different types. The UNES, any field marshal will want to create a relationship and a link there. “
