Tempe, Arizona. – The former corner of the Cardinals of the Arizona, Patrick Peterson, will return to the desert on Monday to retire as a member of the team that recruited it, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Peterson concludes a 13 -year career that began as the fifth general selection of the cardinals in 2011. He spent 10 seasons with the cardinals, leaving after the 2020 season for Minnesota’s Vikings. After two seasons in Purple and Gold, Peterson played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023 but did not play in 2024.
He went to eight consecutive Bowls with the cardinals, from his rookie year in 2011 to 2018.
Peterson developed a reputation as a dominant corner and blocked during most of his career, which allowed Arizona to leave Peterson on an island while committing the resources of the other 10 defenders in other places.
He had 36 interceptions in 201 race games, returning two for Touchdowns. It also returned 195 clearing for 1,816 yards and four touchdowns, all of which were rookies, and four yards kick returned.
Peterson arrived at the headlines in 2018, when he asked for an exchange. However, two days later, he returned to his request, saying he was frustrated. After the season, Peterson said he would honor his contract, which extended during the 2020 season. He went to Minnesota as a free agent.
However, his discontent with the organization did not calm down when he left Arizona.
After a victory of the Vikings over the cardinals in 2022 in Minneapolis, Peterson made clear their feelings towards the cardinals, sharing that the derogatory emails were left in their chair during the 2020 season with the cardinals and pointed out that, at that time, he had not yet spoken with the former general manager of the cardinals Steve Keim, which Chose did not sign Peterson.
