FPL tips and team of week 19: Salah, Isak, Díaz and Maddison make the cut

0

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool, £13.5m – away at West Ham

Even in the “quiet” Boxing Day match, Salah scored nine points.

It’s hard to see a week in the near future where you don’t captain him as well.

Luis Díaz, Liverpool, £7.5m – away at West Ham

Díaz is a risky choice with great advantages. He rarely starts back-to-back games but, with four double-digit returns (13,14,15 and 16 points) in 11 starts, the potential is enormous.

He was rested against Leicester so should play for the Hammers and Liverpool have scored two or more goals in each of their last 10 games. Salah can’t take all the points!

Ismaila Sarr, Crystal Palace, £5.8m – home of Southampton

No midfielder has more opportunities than the Senegalese international in the last four game weeks.

He has become a consistent statistical player: three shots per game in that period, 10 in the area, seven on goal…

With those kinds of numbers, and playing against the worst team in the league, there is a strong possibility of some type of return.

James Maddison, Tottenham, £7.7m – home of Wolves

Despite their two recent wins, Wolves at home are still an excellent matchup in the FPL, especially for a high-scoring team like Spurs.

It may seem lucky to pick a Tottenham midfielder (they all have their merits), but Maddison is the top point scorer and is always very involved. [when he plays].

The Englishman has participated in 33% of Tottenham’s goals when he is on the field and they could score three or more against Wolves.

Cole Palmer (vice-captain), Chelsea, £11.3m, at Ipswich

With Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka out for a while, it looks like most teams will have Salah and Palmer.

The Chelsea talisman is on course to finish with around 300 points this season and would be the most important player in the game if Salah were not around.

Could you captain him this week? If you’re the gambling type, why not? He beat Salah last week, by one point!
