Fortnite waves checkered flag on Rocket Racing forms themed updates

Epic Games will no longer include themed updates for Rocket Racing, the vehicular version of Fortnite released in late December and developed by Rocket League studio Psyonix.

The verdict, kept in pocket notes kept over the weekend, indicates a downgrading of support for the guy, who has struggled to maintain participant numbers compared to other choices made by Epic Games.

This is not the end of Rocket Racing, and the format will be updated with backup missions and cosmetic rewards. But the expectation among fans is that any reduction of Epic Games’ flawless tracks will now be sporadic at best.

Fortnite’s monumental Bulky Bang live tournament announced a pristine hiatus for Fight Royale, with the arrival of three pristine supporting forms: Lego Fortnite, Harmonix’s musical Fortnite Competition, and Psyonix’s Rocket Racing.

Lego Fortnite continues to perform quite well, with numbers of concurrent in-game participants steadily skyrocketing to surpass the 50,000 mark. Meanwhile, Fortnite Competition, across its various form options, remains consistently above the 10,000 mark. Rocket Racing has consistently remained lower in terms of number of entrants than either.

“v31.40 brings the theme back to square one as we say goodbye to Inferno Island and theme updates,” Epic Video Games wrote in its pocket notes. “Hourly updates will take you on a clean path with updated ranked classes, revamped missions, and backup automotive parts you can take to the track!

“New tracks are released from the creators every day so racers always have a different place to drift, spin and fly. The start lines you can discover are endless! Or, if you’re curious about UEFN, the ones you can discover. create.”

It’s a shame to see support degraded, even as Epic Games reprioritizes and any other pristine form of Fortnite is supposed to stay behind the scenes.

Still, Epic has a track record of consistent long-term Fortnite builds, as can be seen in the continued tweaks to Fortnite’s unreleased Save the Global offering that also continues to roll out this month.
