Cumming has enjoyed success in his home country with Otago Sparks, leading them to two Hallyburton Johnstone 50-over titles in four years. It will arrive in the UK in the new year, following the conclusion of the Super Smash T20 competition.
“I feel very honored and privileged to have been selected as the head coach of the Blaze,” Cumming said.
“I already know some of the players and staff and have visited the team while in the UK over the last few years, so I know they all work to the highest standards. But most importantly I know I will join to a brilliant group of people, both on and off the field.
“I can’t wait to be part of this wonderful team, and I have ambitions to help achieve more success than they have had over the past two seasons.”
Blaze director of cricket James Cutt said: “Craig’s success as a coach speaks for itself. In a relatively short period of time, Craig has had a significant impact on Otago, who have been a pre-eminent force in cricket. women’s team in New Zealand over the past few years.
