Firewalk Studios has posted a see you message following the announcement of the studio’s closure.
Parent company Sony Interactive Entertainment, which only got Firewalk deadline, revealed on Tuesday that it would be shutting down the company after its debut name bombed.
The name in question was Cohesion, a live-action shooter that Sony signed early in its development for an initial $200 million, according to Kotaku. Its assets claimed that this amount was not enough to protect the entire structure of the game and did not come with the purchase of the intellectual property rights of Cohesion or with Washington-based Firewalk itself. An earlier listing claimed that the game cost $400 million to put together.
Sony pulled the plug on Cohesion and withdrew the game from sale two weeks into its license this summer, citing poor reception from players.

Firewalk closes an extreme month.
Firewalk began with speculation of bringing the enjoyment of multiplayer to a broader target market. Along the way we assembled a fantastic team that was prepared to:
– Navigate turning a pristine startup into a team during a global pandemic: Firewalk was founded in 2018 and was very small for its first two years, only going into full production in 2022.
– Powers an impeccable next-generation FPS engine custom designed in Unreal 4 -> 5, delivering top-notch gameplay feel, stunning worlds, and a high-performance 60fps technical experience on a powerful, scalable backend on PS5 and PC for hundreds of people. hundreds of players in our beta.
– Supremacy a week of acquisition/integration preparing technical and initial exams.
– And ultimately ship and deliver a great FPS experience to players, although it landed much more narrowly than expected against a tightly consolidated market.
We took some risks along the way (bringing together aspects of card games and fighting games with first-person shooters) and while some of these and other aspects of the IP didn’t land as we hoped, speculation about hanging pristine themes in the arena It is important to promote the medium.
The skill in Firewalk and the level of individual craftsmanship is truly world class, and the teams within Sony Interactive Entertainment and across the industry will be lucky to work with them. Please contact PlayStation Recruitment if you have any questions and thanks to all the teams, partners and enthusiasts who supported us along the way.
See you later inside the Tempest.

Sony also recently announced that it is Neon Koi, the mobile game developer formerly called Savage Game Studios, which it acquired in 2022.
“While mobile remains a priority growth area for Studio Business, we are at the very early stage of our mobile efforts,” said Hermen Hulst, joint CEO of Sony Interactive Leisure.
“To achieve success in this area we need to focus on titles that are in line with the PlayStation Studios pedigree and have the potential to reach more players around the world.
“With this refocused focus, Neon Koi will close and its mobile action game will not move forward. “I want to express my gratitude to everyone at Neon Koi for their hard work and endless passion to innovate.”
