Erik ten Hag’s dismissal: Into two turbulent years at Manchester United

Ten Hag has had to negotiate with difficult alternative conditions.

Right at the start of his tenure, he had to discipline Cristiano Ronaldo out of Defected Trafford early in the next half, he was substituted at half-time in a pre-season match against Rayo Vallecano.

The walk showed strength but I’m waiting in the park for a series of events that will eventually lead to Ronaldo being kicked out of the club following an incendiary interview with Piers Morgan when he said Ten Hag “shows no respect for me.” .

Ten Hag interrupted a lunch with journalists in Spain during the International Cup match to explain his thinking.

“When he is in good shape, he is a good player and could help us achieve the goals we have, that is quite clear,” mentioned the Dutchman.

“But it wasn’t like that. I wanted to work with him. He chose another path.”

Ten Hag penalized Rashford shortly afterwards for missing the start of a team meeting by leaving England ahead on the bench for a match against Wolves. Rashford scored the winning goal and was offered as an alternative.

Later there was Jadon Sancho, who was placed on a private health program after United’s training staff noticed his physical stats were slipping. When he was once excluded from the squad for a loss to Arsenal in September 2023, Ten Hag cited the Englishman’s lack of efficiency as a coach.

Sancho immediately responded on social media, announcing that he was being made a “scapegoat.” Sancho deleted the post but refused to apologize.

Ten Hag never picked him for any other Premier League game and the day he returned to the team during pre-season, at the future transfer deadline, he went on loan to Chelsea.

In the extreme season, Ten Hag had to struggle with a list of paralyzing shock, in which he had not always gotten the best advice. They are a match for Luke Shaw, having once been told that Tyrell Malacia would be available a few weeks before the start of last season’s season in February, so Ten Hag decided to let his on-loan left-back Sergio Reguilon return to Tottenham.

But Malacia soon suffered a major setback to his medication and Shaw suffered a hamstring concussion at Luton on 18 February. Neither has played a game for United since. Despite a bullish summer remark from the club over a redeveloped scientific pitch, West Ham were left without seven senior players due to the shock.

On the other hand, it is best to prolong the peace until now.

Ten Hag is a nice guy. On that pre-Christmas trip to Spain, he entertained the media over lunch with stories of his teenage years and first jobs. This summer, when he arrived in Los Angeles with more than one preview initially planned for a UK media talk show, he laughed and joked with reporters and even announced tips on the best places to travel for coffee at his Cheshire House.

At the recent Football Writers’ Dinner in Manchester, he stayed and told reporters long afterward that he had collected his award for winning the FA Cup.

But throughout the season, in real terms, Ten Hag’s talk wasn’t surprising. Some media people were informed through the United union that Ten Hag preferred “hard-hitting” questions because he found them easier to understand and answer.

The condition was that the solutions, increasingly, were not so scrutinized.

Before and after the global crash, Ten Hag spoke of being on “the same page” as the United hierarchy. But during every bullish period it seemed to be a question of when, not if, it would fall.

One source, who has a wealth of experience at senior level at United, was surprised that Ten Hag did not lose his career at the end of last season. He was incredulous that it didn’t happen from time to time before the resumption in October.

But several United figures, both inside and outside Defected Trafford, surely have the feeling that when the rock starts rolling down the hill, it’s a matter of age before it reaches the bottom. Now he has done it.

Many United players will probably not be happy to see Ten Hag’s adventure.

In April 2023, the Day-to-day Telegraph reported, abroad One of the reasons Tottenham opted not to try to bring in Ten Hag from Ajax to replace Jose Mourinho in 2021 was because they felt he lacked an air of secrecy.

There is a component of that at United.

More than one resource has shown that there was a major breakdown and an increase in feelings of ill health. However, both were once denied connection. Lack of an ordinary solution to what Ten Hag once tried to achieve.

A school teacher but no longer a communicator.
