The ability of one Elden Ring player to win an invasion in Royal Capital, Leyndell by simply waving at their adversary surprises them.
With just a wave, an Elden Ring invader is able to kill their prey. The Lands Between by Elden Ring is a vast world full of surprises that can be found whether or not they were intended to be surprises. Nobody can predict what will happen, especially when PVP invaders get involved. One such incident involved a PVP invader who had exceptionally good fortune on their side.
White Mask Varre is a character in the Elden Ring. The player usually encounters them as soon as they make their first foray into the open world, where he will chastise the player for lacking a maiden. Later, the player can begin a quest line from him that encourages them to participate in PVP in Elden Ring. He gives them the Festering Bloody Finger and instructs them to invade other players three times to advance the quest, though it is not necessary to kill the players; simply invade them will suffice.
One player was almost finished with this section of the quest when they suddenly got lucky and won. User DrengrX was placed in the lovely city of Leyndell and went looking for the player, waving and shouting in the streets when they entered one of the city’s buildings to see the player running through the halls with co-op friends. The video was posted to r/Eldenring and can be viewed here. The player is prompted to rush in and attack after the invader waves and shouts at them once more, but they are only able to land one hit before the enemies in the room. The player was ambushed by the enemies, two Perfumers and a High Page, who then killed them to win the invasion for the invader. The memorable series of events can be seen in the video here.
One of the more notable locations in Elden Ring is Leyndell, Royal Capital, a massive city of winding paths filled with foes ready to ambush the player or cause frustrating encounters like the Leyndell Knights. Even though the invader didn’t seem to want to kill the player during the invasion and claims they just wanted to get it over with so they could continue the quest line, every corner and hallway is perfectly designed for situations like this.
While some PVP invaders plan their ambushes of players in the Lake of Rot, others are simply lucky enough that the invasion is won by the game without their involvement, sometimes even before they come into contact. Elden Ring thrives on surprises, and it’s moments like these that elevate the game.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
