After a long wait, FromSoftware has officially announced Elden Ring’s expansion, along with a picture of the new location players will explore.
Shortly after the game’s anniversary, FromSoftware has finally revealed the long-awaited Elden Ring expansion. For every role-playing game (RPG) that FromSoftware has released since the first Dark Souls game, an expansion is available. People have been speculating about the Elden Ring expansion for almost a year, wondering what it would entail, where the story would go, and when it would be revealed.
One of the most eagerly awaited video games ever since it was first revealed was Elden Ring, which captivated players with a world created not only by Hidetaka Miyazaki but also with assistance from renowned author George R.R. Martin. When it was finally released, it received positive reviews from critics, many of whom praised its well-designed open world, setting, and gameplay, which offered a lot of freedom. Since the game’s explosive launch, fans have remained engaged in the community by posting videos of their gameplay and the various strategies they use to defeat Malenia, the hardest boss in Elden Ring, as they wait for any updates on the expansion.
Thankfully, the wait is over as the official Elden Ring Twitter has finally released the first nugget of information regarding the eagerly anticipated expansion. The expansion, which is currently under development, will be called “Shadow of the Erdtree,” according to the tweet. A single image that shows a woman with long blonde hair riding a spirit horse, possibly named Torrent, looking out from what appears to be the edge of the Lands Between and seeing the destroyed Erdtree in the distance as it leaks a golden liquid from its husk is posted alongside this tweet.

Elden Ring players refer to the woman’s location as the Badlands, which is a large, hilly field of weeds dotted with building ruins and what seem to be ghostly representations of gravestones. Although more is certain to be revealed, not much else was said about the expansion, leaving fans to speculate once more with the one image they have.
Although the title of the expansion has been revealed, there are still many unanswered questions. Chief among these is who the maiden is and how significant a role she will play in the narrative. With 20 million copies of Elden Ring recently sold, many people are eagerly anticipating what the game’s upcoming installment will bring. There is optimism that more information will emerge in the upcoming months.
Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
