The staff at Don’t Nod, the studio behind the likes of Jusant, Moment is Strange 1 and 2, and after releasing Lost Data: Bloom & Fury, are ready to crash this Friday, November 8.
The accident is due to the studio’s layoff plan, which it presented in October.
As Matt reported last minute, 69 jobs at the studio are at risk, as Don’t Nod begins a “reorganization project to ensure the long-term future of the company” amid “deteriorating” monetary effects.
In a visible, discoverable and translated letter via Eurogamer’s sister site GamesIndustry.biz, Don’t Nod employees accused the studio’s management of failing to fulfill its duties due to its own shortcomings, rather than using context. economic as justification for the layoff plan.
“As workers at this company, we know that these failures are due to a succession of negligent acts and poor decisions by management,” the letter reads. “We have been warning leaders about these failures for years, but they do not listen to us. In the end, today we are the ones who pay the price for these absurd decisions: the layoff plan.”
Staff accused management of “short-term thinking,” including “delusions of grandeur,” which influenced the organization’s senior leadership to overinvest. “We want to save the company, but not at the price of unjustified dismissals or a deterioration in the work environment,” the letter concludes.
Don’t Nod staff have submitted numerous requests, including:
- That Don’t Nod abandons the layoff plan
- That workers have expression in decision-making at the corporate level
- That the general director of Don’t Nod, Oskar Guilbert, participate in the negotiation
The accident is about to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, the STJV union announced later at the Paris headquarters of Don’t Nod.
In September, Don’t Nod stated that it had high hopes for Misplaced Data: Bloom & Fury, the upcoming Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts of Unutilized Eden failed to meet corporate expectations.
Stray Facts: Bloom & Fury is about to hit both sides in a later era. The first installment launches for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on February 18, 2025. The second phase will debut an hour later, on March 18.
